We Will Never Forget

As soon as I woke up this morning and realized what day it was, my mind was filled with emotions. On 9/11/01, I was on my mission in North Carolina. I had only been there for a little over a month, and I definitely still felt like a fish out of water. Like everyone else, I will definitely never forget where I was when I heard about the events of that day. What remains even more clear in my mind, however, were the emotions of that day and the time after. There was definitely a sense of fear, and a lot of sadness. The thing that will always amaze me is the way we all stood together for a while after it happened. Everyone seemed a little more kind. We didn't worry about the trivial things in life, and didn't let differences of opinion divide us so easily. We were proud of the country we lived in, and thankful for the freedoms it provided. The sadness felt for what was lost that day still is there. To me, I feel just as sad when I think about how over time, we lost some of the unity and patriotism that we gained from that. It is a different kind of sadness, because it isn't something that was taken from us, but something that we just let slip away over time as we allowed petty differences to divide us again. My hope would be that as we remember that day 9 years ago, and remember what we lost, that we also remember the things we gained. If we do that, and recapture the unity we felt then, we will truly me be honoring the lives and sacrifice of those we lost that day.

Update

I'm not much of a blogger. The world is round. Two facts that are apparent to most people. Anyway, I'm still alive and kicking. I have some sweet pics to post, but I keep forgetting to bring my memory card to load them on the computer...anyway, here is one that my friend Matt sent me. It's from this last weekend just after I finished the St. George marathon. (I finished in 3:49 - I was hoping to do a lot better, but really struggled the last few miles...I guess that is what happens when you don't train enough.)

PillowTie on KSL

As some of you know, PillowTie is a venture that I was involved with for a while. I still have some ties there (pun intended...), but I don't do much anymore. Anyway, KSL had one of my friends on, and its a good promo. By the way, if you want one of these, let me know because I obviously can get you a good deal.

Your thoughts?

I'm considering a new vehicle purchase...I was set on another Honda for a while, but recently the tide has turned in favor of a Subaru WRX...this could be a lot of fun, but will it also mean speeding tickets galore or death?

Bike Gang

That's right. I'm a part of a gang. And you don't want to mess with us. It's a cruiser bike gang, and we DOMINATE Salt Lake.

blah blah blog.

Alright....so, I have some people giving me heat for not posting anything in a while, and others giving me crap for even having a blog. "Blogs are for married people," they say. So, I guess I'll just be somewhere in the middle, and only update on occasion. As usual, I don't have a lot to say, just pictures. I will explain, though. A while back some friends and I decided to go to the Monster Truck World Championships (That's right, I said WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS) in Vegas. I figured that I wanted to fit in, so I cut myself a mullet. We also took our dirt bikes down and rode in St. George. Anyway, good times.

Time for a haircut?

You may be noticing a pattern to my posts...I'm not much of a writer. I would rather just let the pictures say their 1000 words. Anyway, I'll explain the pics a little. I went with Matt and Lacey to the Angels and Airwaves concert on Tuesday (It was terrible...in case you were wondering). Lacey felt like straight hair would be a good look for me for the show...so she flat ironed it. Lacey has become my quazi hair stylist. Anyway, on Friday night she had curry night at her house for a bunch of friends, and it was a great time, as always. There you go. That's all I have to say.

80's Night!

For Valentine's Day this year we decided to round up the crew and do some 80's dancing. It was a lot of fun, although the smoky air and staying up until 2 combined to make pretty much everyone sick...that being said, it was totally worth it. I even permed my hair to enhance the 80's look.

Ping Pong Extravaganza

The intensity of Ping Pong matchups has been increasing here on Adams Street, and my roommate James and I finally geared up for an ultimate ping pong showdown...I'm proud to say that I came out victorious in a best-of-seven series. The pictures really tell the story, though.

My name a Borat! Nice a meet yous!

Ok, so this picture is from Halloween, so it's a bit old, but I just got it off of my friend's camera, so I felt like it was worth sharing. You can be the judge, but in my book it was "great success."

'08? Malad? Awesome? --Answer:yes

Went to my friend Robby's cabin in Malad Idaho to ring in the new year with a great crew: Matt, Robby, Candice, Jen, and Missy. It was wicked cold, but super awesome. We mingled with the locals, set a big fire (using no less than 5 gallons of gasoline), Did some 4-wheeling, and started off '08 just the way I like it...PARTYING! I'll just let the pictures tell the story from there, because I really need to go to bed.

Winter Nights

Winter. Not my favorite season. However, this winter has started off right in at least one way...a cabin trip with the crew. Lacey B.'s grandparents have a cabin up in Oakley, and we went up there last weekend and had a lot of fun on the rope swing, watching Hot Rod (see previous post), and gettin' after it in the Land Rovers.
